We welcome you to the SEFCA website. We are a professional organization of more than 40 film journalists working in the print, radio and online media, representing the Southeastern section of the United States: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. Five founding members came up with the idea for SEFCA in 1992 and decided to organize a group for the initial purpose of annually honoring the best achievements in cinema. We since have grown in members and purpose and constantly are looking for ways to improve SEFCA. One of the first things we wanted to do was to develop a Web site for our members so we could post the results of the annual "best of" awards. We would like to expand the site's information in the near future. We thought it would be more interesting for each of our colleagues and for the user if we created a site with more in-depth information and some fresh perspectives from this progressive region of the country. We will be publishing film commentary, articles and links to each active member's news organization. We hope to provide a quarterly calendar of the South's film societies and independent film festivals along with some general-interest stories about the medium. In the meantime, you can check out SEFCA's annual winners since 1992 on the site. Please continue to visit as we get the site completed through each stage of development.
